Reimagining the Pansy with Brenna Estrada

Members: $12. Non-members: $20. Recording will be available to registrants for four weeks after the event.

October 7 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

This presentation is perfect for two types of gardeners: those who adore pansies and those who don’t (in other words, everybody). If you’re in the latter camp, Brenna Estrada will quickly get you on board Team Pansy. She is the author of Pansies: How to Grow, Reimagine, and Create Beauty with Pansies and Violas (Timber Press, 2025), which won the 2026 American Horticultural Society Book Award for its impassioned and comprehensive look at the history, evolution and appeal of the garden pansy. Brenna will share lessons learned over years of trialing and intimate study: seed collection tips, ideal soil prep, how to maximize their cut flower potential and more. She will also include fascinating highlights from recent trips to Japan and Italy, where she met with the hybridizers behind today’s most exceptional pansies.

Speaker’s bio: Brenna resides in the Pacific Northwest on her flower farm, Three Brothers Blooms, and is dedicated to making specialty pansy seed more accessible. Her passion for pansies has inspired a devoted following of gardeners and artists around the world, and her work has been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, Sunset Magazine, American Gardener, The Seattle Times, Elle Decor (Italy), among others.
