October 3 @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Boost your native plant IQ with a combined class and tour at the West Seattle Nursery led by NHS board member Meagan McManus, the nursery’s lead horticulturalist and native plant buyer. She will share her native plant expertise and treat us to an insider’s tour of the nursery. Learn how to design borders and containers with native plants for captivating year-round interest. Explore new-to-you species, reacquaint yourself with reliable landscape workhorses and discover how to place them into your garden.

Instructor’s bio: Meagan is a Certified Professional Horticulturist and has worked at West Seattle Nursery since 2022. A native Pacific Northwesterner, she gained her green thumb as a youngster while gardening, hiking and botanizing in Washington. Meagan has worked as an ecologist and gardener in Seattle for over two decades and is deeply involved in the region’s horticultural community. She is a member of the Washington Native Plant Society, a longtime volunteer for Washington Rare Plant Care and Conservation, and believes in the power of gardens to create community and connect with nature on a deeper level.
