Cottage Lake Gardens is just 30 minutes outside of Seattle and is one of the few places in the world where all 50+ species of the world’s trilliums can be seen growing in one location. Owner and curator Susie Egan will guide us through her three-acre private botanical garden filled with woodland shade plants. We’ll experience the famous Trillium Trail, recently renovated to display each species by geographic zone, which is akin to walking a trail from North America’s west coast to the east coast, with a brief detour to northeast Asia. Plants will be for sale at the end of the tour.

Susie is a landscape designer, Master Gardener alum, lecturer and owner of Cottage Lake Gardens. Her current focus is the study, cultivation and propagation of woodland shade plants, with an emphasis on the endangered Trillium. For the past twenty years, she has traveled throughout the United States, Canada and Japan on trillium trekking trips to see this enchanting genus in the wild, growing in their native habitats. She has given lectures on trilliums in England, Scotland, New Zealand, Canada and locally.
