NHS board members Camille Paulsen and Sue Goetz will lead an art-inspired tour of four exceptional gardens in the South Sound. Our day begins on Fox Island at a breathtaking three-acre waterfront retreat, where a peaceful woodland path leads to a towering tree house, vibrant cottage gardens and an array of tranquil water features. Next, we’ll visit an artist’s garden featuring sweeping drifts of drought-tolerant plants, productive raised vegetable beds and a serene pond. We then continue to Gig Harbor to explore the garden of a painter who extends her artistic vision beyond the canvas, creating dazzling displays of color with flowering perennials and a spectacular koi pond. We’ll pause for a lunch (please bring your own; we’ll supply drinks and cookies) in this blufftop garden while enjoying sweeping views of Puget Sound and Mount Rainier. Our final destination is a sculptor’s Asian-inspired garden, where a carefully curated bonsai collection and inspiring sculpture walk provide a fitting finale to this day of horticultural artistry.
