April 15 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
“I practice the fine art of garden cramscaping and I’m a firm believer there is always room for one more plant.”
So says Loree Bohl, founder of the highly popular blog danger garden. In this presentation, her plant obsession will be on full display as she gives us a tour of her inimitable Portland garden, with a focus on its myriad containers–many of which she’s assembled from found objects and most of which require seasonal movement. Loree calls that process, which happens in the spring and the autumn, The Great Migration. She will share photos illustrating how she uses containers to:
-
- grow plants that are not happy year-round in our climate
- grow plants in places you otherwise could not (hard surfaces, areas with root competition)
- tailor soil and water to the individual plant’s needs
- squeeze in more plants/take things vertical
- provide a temporary home for new plants
- put a particular plant in the spotlight
- screen an unwanted view
- flex her creative muscles by “fabricating” a new container
