Maximizing Plant Pollination with Bee Expert Thyra McKelvie

Members: $12. Non-members: $20. Recording is available for purchase and viewing through May 20, 2026.

April 21 @ 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

Thyra is managing director and global solitary bee educator at Rent Mason Bees and will present the many ways that mason and leafcutter bees boost a garden’s productivity. These powerful pollinators visit up to 2,000 flowers a day and are capable of pollinating up to 95% of the blooms they land upon. They are gentle, non-aggressive and non-stinging, making them safe and easy to host in home gardens. Thyra will detail how to provide the proper nesting habitat for these prodigious pollinators and share how they help create healthier, more productive gardens.

 Speaker’s bio:

Thyra has been with Rent Mason Bees, the largest solitary bee provider in the U.S., for nine years. As a nationally recognized voice in solitary bee education, she teaches at garden clubs, trains master gardeners, works with schools and environmental organizations, and contributes to national gardening publications. She is also the creator of Rent Mason Bees’ educational YouTube channel and recently appeared on the Cultivating Place podcast
