Curating Compelling Collections: The North American Gardens at UBC Botanical Garden with Ben Stormes

Members $10, Non-Members $15

October 25, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The North American Gardens at UBC Botanical Garden represent four biogeographically distinct regions, from the locally native plant communities of the pacific northwest to the distant eastern hardwood forests. Some of these gardens are among the oldest at UBC Botanical Garden, while others are some of the newest. Join us for an informative and insightful presentation highlighting the unique ecology, plants, and beauty of these gardens, and the wild spaces they draw inspiration from.

This recording will be sent within 48 hours and will be available for viewing by the registrant for three weeks.

Ben Stormes is the Curator & Horticulturist for the North American Gardens at UBC Botanical Garden. He holds a Master’s degree in public garden leadership from Cornell University, a Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from The University of Guelph, and a diploma in ornamental horticulture from The Niagara Parks School of Horticulture. Ben has worked with several botanical gardens in Canada, as well as municipal arboriculture departments, and in public outreach and education programming. A keen gardener from a young age, Ben always has some dirt under his nails, no matter how hard he scrubs.
