Pastoral Gardens with Clare Foster
Members: $12. Non-members: $20. Recording will be available to registrants for four weeks after the event.
March 7 @ 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Clare is the Garden Editor of House & Garden UK and will share fascinating details about the making of her newest book, Pastoral Gardens (Montgomery Press, 2024). A rhapsodic deep dive into gardens that blur the lines between intentional design and the wild landscape, it offers intimate glimpses of twenty gardens in the UK, the Continent, U.S. and Africa – including projects by Dan Pearson, Sarah Price and Tom Stuart-Smith. She will detail the history, design and planting behind many of these gardens in this sumptuous meditation on bucolic beauty.
The interviews I carried out for the book were fascinating, veering off into philosophical, environmental and sometimes spiritual territory and it made me realise how intimately people are connected to their gardens. They define who these people are. The gardens become an intrinsic part of their lives, connecting them to the wider ecosystems we belong to. — Clare Foster
